This week, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries will receive payments totaling up to $4,018. These payments are intended for individuals who meet certain requirements established by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and for workers who have paid their Social Security taxes for at least a few years.
As of today, two SSDI payments have been sent: the first on January 8 (the second Wednesday of the month) for beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 1st and 10th of any month.
The second category includes those who have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month and received their payment on January 15.
However, there is one more payment to make: it is for those whose birthdays fall after the 21st of the month, and it will be made this week on the fourth Wednesday, which is January 22.
Who qualifies for SSDI benefits in 2025?
The maximum SSDI payment in 2024 is $4,018. To be eligible for this amount, applicants must meet a number of requirements. The applicant must have 35 years of work experience.
A person who wishes to apply for SSDI must also submit the application before reaching full retirement age in order to avoid a reduction in payment. All of the applicant’s previous jobs must also have been covered by Social Security.
Finally, the applicant’s income history must meet or exceed the annual taxable maximum for the 35-year period.

The average Social Security benefits in every initiative
The average SSDI payment is $1,542 through October 2024, and it is expected to rise to $1,580 after the 2.5% cost of living adjustment (COLA) in 2025, though this figure may change over time.
Payments may be lower than average for those with lower incomes or fewer years of work experience. Beneficiaries in these situations may also be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
In terms of benefit amounts in 2024 and projections for 2025, the average SSDI benefit will be $1,542 in 2024 and $1,580 in 2025. The SSI (average) is expected to be $697 in 2024 and $714 in 2025, with the maximum amount of $967 in both years.
Those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will receive their next payment on January 31, which has been moved up from February 1 (a Saturday).
Other beneficiaries, such as those who claimed benefits prior to May 1997 or who receive both Social Security and SSI benefits, will receive their payments on February 3.
