Court documents: Suspect in Mt. Echo Park murder is arrested

Hamilton County — A man is in jail after allegedly killing someone in Mt. Echo Park on December 28.

Rasu Amir Salaam, 25, is charged with one count of murder for fatally shooting Limber Gomez Rivera, 27, with a semi-automatic firearm, according to court records.

The shooting took place at 202 Crestline Ave. around 7:54 p.m.

According to an affidavit, Salaam and the victim were involved in a “minor” vehicle collision at Mt. Echo Park.

According to court documents, Salaam shot Rivera multiple times as he drove to another area of the park.

According to the affidavit, Salaam then drove away from the park, stopped “a short distance away,” checked the damage to his vehicle, and drove home.

A witness at the scene called 911, and Rivera was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead the next day.

On January 2, detectives and Cincinnati SWAT executed a search warrant after determining that the vehicle involved was registered in Salaam’s name.

The affidavit states that when they arrived at Salaam’s home on Stillwell Road, both he and the damaged vehicle were present.

During the search of the home, officers discovered a firearm and several other items.

Jail records show: Salaam was booked into Hamilton County Jail on Friday morning.

His bond amount was set at $1 million.
