The family of a boy murdered in 1982 is fighting to keep the killer in prison.
“We go around collecting handwritten signatures. “That has a significant impact on the parole board,” stated Bob Evers.
Jason Evers, Evers’ son, was kidnapped and murdered at the age of three.
Adrian Williams was 17 when he was convicted. He was sentenced to fifty years in prison. He has served 42 of them.
Bob Evers promised his dying wife that he would do everything he could to keep Williams in prison for the maximum sentence.
“We’ve probably got about 3,000 signatures,” Evers said. “We have to do this every five years, and it is not easy. I must relive it every five years.”
Evers stated that they collect signatures and also promote the drive on change.org.
Additionally, the family believes they must conduct another signature drive, making things even harder.
Linda Hoberg, Bob Ever’s sister, also suffered murder.
“My sister Linda was raped and burned alive in her car in 1990,” said Bob and Linda’s brother, Ron Evers.
So, while they’re collecting signatures to keep Jason’s killer in prison, they’re also preventing Linda’s killer from escaping.
“It’s simply horrible. Ron Evers said, “It’s like it happened again.”
Williams’ next hearing date is December 4.
