A vehicle fatally hits a pedestrian who has passed out in the Hayward parking lot

Police report that a vehicle struck a pedestrian who had passed out in a Hayward parking lot on Wednesday afternoon, killing him.

Around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police dispatched officers to a parking lot near the 26000 block of Gading Road to investigate a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon their arrival, they discovered an injured man.

Officers discovered that the man had fainted in the parking lot. A vehicle made a turn in the area and hit him while he was lying on the ground. According to reports, the driver did not see the man before hitting him.

According to police, the officers found the pedestrian still conscious and breathing and spoke with them on the scene.

They took the pedestrian to the hospital for treatment, but his condition quickly deteriorated, leading to his declaration of death there.

The driver, a 52-year-old Hayward resident, cooperated with the police.

According to police, the Alameda County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased man.
