13-year-old boy dies while subway surfing while completing a 'awful' TikTok challenge

Two people who knew the boy, his mom and police, say that he died on Wednesday night while doing a “awful” TikTok subway surfing challenge in Queens.

It was around 10 p.m. when the teen was found unconscious at the Forest Avenue subway station in Ridgewood by the NYPD. The boy fell off the top of the M train while trying to avoid getting caught by other people.

Adolfo Sanabria Sorzano, the teen, died at the scene.

A GoFundMe page set up to pay for the boy’s funeral says his mother said he was doing the “awful” TikTok subway surfing challenge.

Adolfo was a lively kid with lots of hopes and dreams. His death has left a hole that can’t be filled. Please help us say goodbye to him with the respect he deserves. “Any donation, no matter how big or small, will help a lot during these tough times,” the mom said.

A boy, 11, died last month after falling off the G train near the 4th Avenue-9th Street station in Brooklyn while skydiving.

A 20-year-old man was hurt when he fell off a train in the Bronx on Thursday morning. Around 8:20 a.m., the man fell off the No. 5 train near the East 180th Street subway station while riding the subway.

The NYPD says he was hit by an unknown structure before he fell off the train. The man was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not put his life in danger.

This year, the police have cracked down on the dangerous game. This year, 163 people have been arrested for subway surfing, which is 22% more than last year
